Engagement Photos in The Pearl - Portland, OR
Resurrecting the blog to share this engagement session with Payton & Kai! I knew Payton from years ago in high school, and I was so excited when she reached out about wanting me to photograph them for their wedding. Payton mentioned they were wanting a more urban, downtown location for their engagement photos. She and Kai are beer people, and love going on dates to breweries around Portland (their first date was at 10 Barrel!) so we had to incorporate that as well. We decided on starting at the park right in the center of The Pearl in Portland, OR. Conveniently, 10 Barrel wasn’t too far away, so we did lots of walking around and shooting all over the streets!
This was my first time meeting Kai, and the best part about doing engagement sessions before their wedding is giving me a chance to get to know both people individually and together as a couple! These two are ultimate besties, and their love for each other just melted my heart. It was such a joy watching them interact together, laugh together and just enjoy some time hanging out (with me, everyone’s favorite third wheel 😉)
After a quick wardrobe change, we started our trek to the brewery! Along the way, any little nook or cranny that I found I would stop us and grab some photos of P&K. It was a fun little adventure! And since our session was in June, we HAD to stop at one of the pride window signs 🏳️🌈
One more wardrobe change at the brewery - these ‘fits were ON BRAND okay!! They grabbed a couple of beers, and we ended the session hanging out here and talking about their relationship, their wedding and just life things. Also will never forget Payton walking away to the bar and Kai looking back at her saying “God, I love that woman.” brb crying.
