5+ New Theme Ideas for Your Next Boudoir Photoshoot

Whether it’s your first time or your 5th, planning a boudoir photoshoot takes some thoughtful planning ahead of time to make it really great. To help give your photos a bit of personality, infusing some keywords, a theme, or personal elements can make a huge difference in the final result. I love helping my clients create a mood board of the vibe they want to embody at their session, so I wanted to share with you a few ideas you may want to consider for your next boudoir photoshoot!

Glamour Spotlight

Set the stage and be the star of your own show with the glamour spotlight! And you can take this in so many directions depending on your style: burlesque, villain era, even old Hollywood. How often do you get to be seen in this light (literally!) The glamour spotlight is a great option to add on to your session if you want photos that really stand out, even if it’s just in your own album!

Film Noir

In the same vein as the previous idea, we’re staying moody with a film noir vibe. Think black and white, high contrast lighting, and a bit of sexy mystery. You could do a portion of your session like this, or go all in for a completely black and white gallery! It’s fun to incorporate a style you wouldn’t normally go for in an every day setting — it’s not every day you get to do a boudoir session, so go big! This theme is definitely for bold babes and those who love all things dark, moody, and iconic.

Feminine Floral

This one is for the dreamy, feminine babes who want to fulfill their spring fairy fantasies! We take the color palette to a softer tone with pops of bright flowers for contrast. Floral lingerie, floral accessories and hair pins are encouraged for this! In this case, more is more. A beautiful alternative to being in an actual wildflower meadow/dreamland.

Beach Babe

Whether it’s mid-day or as the sun sets over the waves, taking your boudoir photoshoot to the beach is a great idea. It can be intimidating posing out in public like this, but once you get into the groove, it’s so worth it. Especially if you’re a boudoir veteran, doing a photoshoot outside of the studio is so thrilling, and definitely will shake up the whole experience from planning to the final images!

Minimal Editorial

Ready to strip away and leave you the center of attention? All you need is a simple matching lingerie set like this Calvin Klein favorite, and a couple of white fabric sheets to set the scene. This theme is very editorial, minimal, and clean. This style makes for exceptional framed wall art, whether you hang your most favorite or a 3x3 gallery wall grid. Who knew boudoir photography could be so aesthetic?

Sweater Weather

It is autumn after all, so of course I had to include a moment for sweaters and all things cozy boudoir! This theme is such a mood, and easy to personalize. Bring your favorite cozy sweater, socks, even books and a mug would work great for this! Having that extra layer of wardrobe is also perfect if you want to keep your boudoir photoshoot on the modest side, while still having playful and sensual photographs.

Birthday Cake Smash

Nothing sweeter than going all out to celebrate yourself on your birthday! But cake doesn’t hurt to bring, too ;) Make your boudoir photoshoot fun and sexy (and a little messy) by doing an adult cake smash!
