Boudoir Pose Ideas - On the Wall

Since adding collaborative mood boards to my boudoir session planning process, I’ve been thinking about how easy/difficult it may be for people to actually find inspiration for their own photoshoots. When you come to your boudoir session, you are never responsible for bringing your own poses, I’ve got you covered there! But, for those of you that like to gather some inspo, I’m putting together a collection of blog posts that will feature a bunch of my favorite poses you can add to your mood board!

This week, were focusing on wall poses. Against a wall, up a wall, down a wall, if it’s interacting with one, it’s in here. This is by no means an exhaustive list — I’m always coming up with new ideas, and some poses I’ve photographed are people who’ve chosen not to share their photos. So there’s always room for more! But check out this post, and save your favorites! I’ll also share some tips for getting into the poses, so don’t forget to stop and read, too.

Back to the Wall

Saying “back to the wall” might be misleading — your back is always arched, so it’s more like your shoulders or your butt, you get it 😂 Since your back is to the wall, the work really goes into your hands, arms, and head position. Bend your elbows, put your arms up, one up one down, put them on the wall, move around in it! Here are some examples of ways you can pose and get different shots with your back to the wall.

Hands to the Wall

Hate not knowing what to do with your hands? Not to worry babe, put em on the wall! You can basically spin 360 degrees with a hand or both on the wall and you’ll find a pose. Typically with hands on the wall, I typically angle the shot at eye level or below.

Elbows to the Wall

These are pretty similar to hands on the wall. However, I do think an elbow to the wall creates a more dramatic pose, since you’re required to lean your body in even more! And we love a bit of drama here.

Legs to the Wall

While the core pose for legs is typically the same, you can play a lot with the angles! You’ll get a different feel each time. You can also get really wild if you put your legs all the way up the wall in a handstand! (Only if you’re confident, no injuries pls!)

Which wall pose variation was your favorite? There’s so much you can do, and as you can see in some examples, a wall doesn’t necessarily always mean indoors! Huge rocks on the beach, a tree, basically any vertical surface can be used in place of a wall. I hope these photos inspire you and dress up your mood board for your upcoming photoshoot. Stay tuned weekly on the blog for more boudoir pose ideas, next week we’ll be looking at poses on the floor!
