Soft & Feminine Boudoir Photos

I am officially in my soft girl era, and this photoshoot checked all the boxes.

I’ve been very inspired by all things feminine, light, hazy, and soft, so I reached out to Sydney about coming in for a creative session. Y’all, she understood the assignment!! I pulled together a moodboard with a few portrait/pose ideas, but also antique paintings, modern pinup illustrations, even photos with no people in them, just a soft aesthetic. I can’t emphasize enough how helpful moodboards are for me, they help me wrangle all of my ideas into something cohesive and imperfectly organized that remind me of my thoughts, but keep it open and flexible for in-the-moment creativity.

In our posing, we used a lot of fluidity and slow movements, which really helps with the relaxed, lost in thought feel. I think it helps the person being photographed as well, having the freedom to move around a bit in a pose keeps it from feeling too stiff. Then they can get lost in the moment, and I get a more real and genuine photograph. I also had a lot of fun with using the sheer fabrics in the studio, whether it was putting it in front of my lens for a gauzy haze, or letting Sydney interact with it. It brings an element of whimsy that I absolutely love.

I wanted to focus on some interesting close up shots during this session too. Nothing that was too over the top, but ones that hung on to that soft, feminine vibe. I wanted these photos to read delicate, like the woman in the photos was just spending quiet, quality time with herself; relaxed, comfortable, and sensual.

I’m over the moon with this set, and totally engrossed in this soft girl aesthetic. Did this session speak to everything you want your boudoir session to look like? Let’s chat! Click the button below and let’s make some magic together.
