I'm so excited to be sharing this awesome set of images! Lately I've been taking inspiration from fashion & editorial portraiture from the 1900's - mainly the 40's, 50's, and 60's. The movement, the style, and the nostalgia all had formed itself into the basic concept for this shoot. I wanted to marry my style with the classic portrait style from those times, and do something creative & editorial. I chose a vintage travel vibe for this photoshoot, and reached out to Ruth to model for me, I'm obsessed with her cheekbones, and her natural ebb & flow as I photograph her.

The Elements

As soon as I got Ruth on board, she messaged me with a photo of this dress, and it couldn't have been more perfect. I think I actually squealed with excitement because it was like a glowing beacon in my mental mood board for this shoot. After that, each piece was basically handed to me, it was so easy to put everything together. My sister found the shoes at an antique/thrift store in Portland (it's called Found on Fremont and it's my new favorite place, plus its right next door to Pip's Doughnuts so *cue drool*) and my sister in law found the luggage at goodwill for $7 in perfect condition. I don't think I've ever had such an easy time finding supplies for a shoot that were so.dang.perfect.

I decided to go to the Vancouver, WA Amtrak train station. The building there hasn't been remodeled much, which was actually to our advantage in this instance! The colors there went so well with the outfit and Ruth's hair was a gorgeous contrast, and I just can't even describe how much I loved shooting this. It felt so good to photograph something for myself like this and really just stretch my creative skills. With that, I'll let the images do the rest of the talking. xoxo
