River Goddess - Styled Shoot with Mikaela

Just let yourself float back to summertime: when the rays of the sun warmed your skin, when your worries were carried off with he breeze, and the water was nearly warm enough to be comfortable swimming in.

The inspiration for this shoot came heavily from two things. The first being that I had really started diving into boudoir photography, and the second being that I was binge watching (and re-watching) youtube videos from photographer Irene Rudnyk. I really wanted to do something in and around water, more so than just having a body of water in the background. I found (well my shopping buddy did actually,) this simple, sheer white and lace dress that reminded me of a vintage nightgown from Goodwill for 8 bucks. We headed out to the river in Lewisville Park on a weekday morning, mostly to avoid crowds of people. I hadn’t gotten a chance to shoot with Mikaela outside of her family’s photo sessions and weddings, so I really wanted to just hang out, have fun, be creative and try some new things. I really wanted to infuse the shoot with some boudoir inspired poses, but still keep it dreamy and, dare I say fairy-like.

It took me forever to decide how I wanted to edit these, I tried out so many versions of color grading and editing styles! I liked a lot of different styles, but finally had to just tell myself to land on one and get to it, or else they would never be finished, haha.

I’m so thankful that Mikaela was down to just DIY this shoot with me, and go with the flow of the shoot. She’s an incredible model, and obviously so beautiful inside and out. Check her out and give her a follow here.
