Artistic & Emotive Maternity Photoshoot | Portland Boudoir Photographer
When your best friend comes to you with her dream maternity vibes — you deliver. I am so excited to be sharing these photos, this was so special. And at the time that I’m writing this, her sweet baby has already arrived! 🥹
Maternity Photo Inspiration
Celeste came with a clear, yet still open-ended vibe for her photos. You could describe it as minimal, interpretive, and emotive. We drew some inspiration from classical works of Madonna and Child, and used slow-shutter blur to create some abstract images with powerful storytelling. Those images almost feel like the passage of time during pregnancy, going by so fast it feels like we can’t even capture a still moment.
The simplicity of the set-up and the powerful results we got are still inspiring me weeks after. Not only did we execute Celeste’s vision, I think I also ventured down a creative avenue I had been honestly too afraid to explore. Now that I’ve taken the first step, I cannot wait to take some of this magic forward into future photoshoots.
Why Book a Maternity Photoshoot?
Obviously, this is an experience that is unique, and is a rapidly changing one for our bodies in a very short amount of time. It can feel weird, magical, amazing, confusing, discouraging, powerful, and so much more. But because of it’s short lived nature, and an important experience to you and your growing family, creating artistic photographs to keep forever is a great idea.
For the better part of a year, you are growing an entire human being (it’s basic knowledge but actually mind blowing when you think about it!) and this experience will change you forever. Just like all the big moments in your life, this is worthy of celebration and remembrance. A maternity session is a way to celebrate everything you and your body are going through, and it’s the only way to visually document and illustrate the journey before your baby arrives. Especially with a first-born, it can be your way of creating art with the transition into parenthood.
And if you’re thinking, “I don’t necessarily want boudoir style photos for my maternity session,” take a look through Celeste’s session. We took a more fine art approach that is timeless, and honors her body in a beautiful way. Remember that your photoshoot is about you, and I’ll be your guide to your dream photos.
Okay, I might be crying, but I’m biased 😅 I would love for you to have the experience of celebrating your pregnancy journey with photography, whether it’s your first babe or your fifth! You are worthy of beautiful images to pass down in your family.
