Celebrating Herself with Boudoir Photography

Kayleigh’s boudoir photoshoot is one that I will hold so close to my heart forever. The universe truly brings me my people, and I felt that so much in my connection with Kayleigh. She approached our very short planning window (I’m talking less than one week!) with so much excitement, creativity, and trust. She had a story in her mind she wanted to tell with these images, and a clear goal of celebrating all facets of her and her personality.

Planning the Boudoir Photoshoot

When I say short planning window, I mean we brought together the full concept of this photoshoot in like 3 days. This was very largely in part to Kayleigh having such a clear vision of what she wanted, so she put us so far ahead in that way with theme keywords and inspiration for the mood board! She described wanting to start with a soft and pretty look, with flowers and leaning into that airy and effortless vibe.

Next, we moved into the dark feminine, with a black corset and lingerie, a riding crop, and a tutu! They sound so random all laid out here but they came together in such a cool, sexy look.

The plan was to then go back to a lighter look, but with a changed energy carried over from the more badass, intense look before. This was definitely achieved with the help of the luxe robe, you cannot wear that and not feel like you own the place. I don’t make the rules!

Boudoir Theme Inspiration

Kayleigh specified that she was particularly inspired by impressionist art and the ballet works from Degas, which was music to my little art history buff heart! This also helped hone in the vibe, and encouraged a lot of the poses and motion blur we created in this session. I use a lot of art history references in my own personal inspiration, so when she brought these all on her own I knew we were going to be on the same page instantly!

Displaying Her Photos

Together at her image reveal and ordering appointment, Kayleigh and I designed her a gorgeous boudoir album that tells her story in a fluid, beautiful way. It was the ultimate self love gift! She also chose one of these images (can you guess which?) to be framed as wall art in her home. As extra goodies for herself and her partner, she added on a glass print box, as well as a fun retro viewmaster! Seeing your photos in print is a whole new experience compared to just the digitals, which is why I always encourage physical prints and stunning products to display and enjoy your images to the fullest.
