Romantic Boudoir Exploring Her Light & Dark Feminine

Ahhhh blogging this session is taking me back to how creatively inspiring and fulfilling it was. Marley is a gem! I’m obsessed with how lived in, confident, and romantic these images feel (they all went into her album, too.) Let’s talk about it!

Marley booked her session with me after a big life change, and came into this wanting to create ART. She told me about how her first inclination was to go with a moodier, darker boudoir style. However, she was also interested in exploring a lighter aesthetic too, that felt dreamy and fine art. Basically, music to my ears!! This type of visual self exploration is exactly what I built the studio for. I have a bright, white, dreamy vibe side, and the sensual, dark green, moody side. And I’m here to tell you I love doing both aesthetics in one session! Thinking about and seeing ourselves in these different ways is fun and interesting, so I couldn’t wait to dive in with Marley.

She arrived to her session at my photography studio in Portland with 4 different outfits — 2 for light, 2 for dark. Each of them totally stunning! We were both so excited about this muted blue lingerie set, so we started there and boy did we start strong. The light photos are dreamy and soft but definitely still hot ;)

Then we switched to the dark feminine — you can tell this vibe is where Marley really felt at home. She NAILED IT! And the red and green color combo in this set is soooo good.

In Marley’s boudoir mood board, there was a lot of imagery for the dark aesthetic with candles, specifically candelabras. I really wanted to try to thrift one for her session, and luckily my friend found one for me! It was so perfect, and that pop of red color with the lip color gets a chef’s kiss from me.

Our incredible makeup artist Emily updated the makeup from day to night and gave Marley this gorgeous vampy look. It was the cherry on top! And at the end you’ll see a red, sheer robe that Marley brought from home that she thought went with a kind of witchy vibe and those are honestly my favorite images.

How stunning is she! This romantic boudoir photoshoot was a blast, and the colors especially are still inspiring me. Marley gets to enjoy her light and dark feminine exploration in a keepsake album for years to come, hopefully inspiring her and reminding her that her dualities are beautiful.
