Boudoir Lingerie to Highlight Your Best ASSets

See what I did there 😉 I wanted to make this post because I’ve seen a lot of outdated blogs and articles on Pinterest about the best lingerie for your “body type.” Which I think is ridiculous, and anyone can absolutely ROCK any kind of lingerie no matter their size/shape/weight. So we’re putting a new spin on it, and I’ll be giving you lingerie suggestions to show off your favorite body parts! Please note that the best lingerie for your body, is lingerie that fits well. Make sure to try your outfits on before your session, you want to make sure it’s comfortable and giving you a gentle “hug”. Not digging in anywhere, and not baggy or loose either. Have grace with yourself when trying on lingerie, especially because sizing between brands can vary soooo much, especially so for plus sizes. Remember that if something doesn’t fit, it’s the clothing that is the problem, not your body. Clothes were made to fit your body, not the other way around.

Making sure you have lingerie that you love, that fits well, and highlights all your favorite parts is a big part of the puzzle for most people. Of course, embracing parts of you that may hold insecurity can be part of the journey to acceptance, but how far you choose to go down that route for your photoshoot is completely up to you. I’m here to help you celebrate the skin you’re in, for all that it is today. Let’s jump in!

Highlight Your Chest

Whether your girls are melons or grapes, high or low, they are worthy of being shown off (a little or a lot!) Pieces that have chest cut-outs, or balconette style tops can really lift and draw the eye. There are many ways to be creative with this depending on your style and comfort, including topless corsets, super low-cut fronts, or lots of straps!

Highlight Your Shoulders

If you really want to give your gorgeous shoulders some spotlight, you could look for something with a strap detail, like lace or mesh. Another style that really highlights the shoulders are high-neck tops and strapless bodysuits! They give the effect of a “cold shoulder” which gives those babies the attention they deserve. You could even do a sweater/cardigan/denim jacket to drop off your shoulder, with any outfit and have the same effect. Often times you’ll also get a pretty view of your collarbones!

Highlight Your Back

This one is super easy - backless ANYTHING! Keyhole cutout bodysuits, strappy moments, or even ribbon ties! This also definitely includes the sheet, since it’s held to cover mostly the front, it leaves the whole back or backside exposed. If you have short hair or style with an up-do you’ll be ahead of the game, too!

Highlight Your Booty

This one is probably the easiest one to highlight, basically anything will do the trick as long as it’s not briefs (unless they are fun mesh or intricate lace ones!) Since it’s sort of a given, we get to have fun! There are tons of styles that get creative with straps, lace details, cutouts, embroidery, you name it! Adding accessories on top of that like body chains can give it a little shine, too.

Highlight Your Waist

Bring on the curves, the abs, the beautiful tums! This is another one like the booty that can be pretty obvious (aka two piece) which means if you really want to show your middle some decoration, have fun with it! Add some fun cutouts or a garter belt, or even high waisted panties. If you’re first thought is the opposite and you’d rather not draw attention to your tum, instead of going for a babydoll top, try a bodysuit or a fitted chemise! They provide some material to that area, without completely hiding your curves.
