Desert God - Emotional Collaboration in Bend, OR

First, this collaboration is so special for all of us involved, and we couldn’t have shot this at a more perfect time. This shoot began as just a cool, creative concept and I got in touch with Amy to model for me. She agreed, and getting closer to the shoot she was talking about how this could be a really great opportunity for her as an artist to express some real emotions she has been experiencing through a pretty rough season of life. I thought, even better, I love the idea that art can be therapy and I was ready to make something meaningful for us all.

Amy, Karen and I shopped together for wardrobe and further developed the concept, all the way up to our arrival at Smith Rock in Bend, OR where this shoot took place. We wanted to tell this story of someone unfolding, and submitting to the desert. We begin with Amy’s full outfit, typical of a styled shoot, a great big flowing skirt, hair and makeup done, put together and pleasing poses. As you move through the set, you see her abandoning the fluff and giving it up to the wilderness and God himself. Amy wrote an essay alongside this set, that I highly recommend you go and read here.

We hope you enjoy this set, it was an immense labor of love creating it and we are thrilled with the results.
