Editorial & Minimal Boudoir Photoshoot

This photoshoot was everything I wanted and more!! When I reached out to Blanca with my inspo board full of minimal, editorial photos on a super simple backdrop, I was so excited when she agreed to shoot with me. I wanted the texture of white sheets all over, so I set up one on a backdrop stand, and laid a bigger one on the floor so we could bunch it and really give the scene character, but minimal detail. I love the aesthetic of the Calvin Klein bra and panty (which you can sometimes snag from TJ Maxx or Ross btw!) and I knew it would be perfect with my vision.

I use these creative sessions as a creative outlet for myself as an artist, as well as a low-pressure way to push myself in areas I want to grow in. For this session, a big challenge I wanted to give myself was to get more of the “detail” photos. I am drawn to faces so much it’s hard for me to photograph anything else, haha! But detials are powerful too, and this was my opportunity to try. I’m loving the close-ups, the body shots, and the way that these images tell their own stories too. As a boudoir photographer, of course I want to make you look and feel good in photographs, but I also want to use it as a tool to tell your story. Our bodies carry us through life, through celebrations and heartbreak, love and grief, all of it. Most of us can’t say our relationships with our bodies are perfect, but we can learn to appreciate them. Boudoir photography gives you an outside perspective, free of pre-conceived notions and judgement.

Another challenge I gave myself for this editorial style photoshoot was to include more movement, and capturing it in a sensual, beautiful way. A lot of it turned out very subtle, but I can already see where there’s been growth, and I’m excited to implement this among my other creative techniques to give my clients fun and unique artwork that lives. Imagine having a framed print on your wall of yourself swaying in the Luxe Robe, or shimmying the pearl bodysuit, or running your hands up your body?! I support it.

This was such a fun stretch of my creative muscles! The editorial, minimal vibe is so versatile.
