What to Wear for your Boudoir Session

So you’ve booked your photoshoot, and the fun immediately starts - getting to pick out and shop for what you’re going to wear! If you immediately feel overwhelmed reading that sentence, this post is for you.

I’d love to pretend like shopping for underwear is always an easy, magical experience that ends in success every time. But I won’t (and you’re not usually getting photos taken in that underwear either!) I wanted to write a post to give you ideas of the options available for outfits and accessories that will make you look and feel like a million bucks. I do have a client closet that is open to all booked clients, so I’ll be mentioning what I have as we go along. But, sometimes going home and having that spicy new lingerie after your shoot is how the gift keeps on giving! And the best part is, we can do multiple outfits at your photoshoot, so no feel free to love multiple options! Let’s dive in so I can show you that your outfit is the best part about planning your boudoir session.

Boudoir Outfit Ideas

Matching Bra & Panty Set

A classic look that you may already have in your drawer! These are always super easy to find, and if you’re a custom bra kind of gal, you know you’ll get the right fit to feel confident and secure. These always look great layered with accessories as well (read to the the end to see recs for accessories too!)

Bodysuit

Bodysuits are hands down the most popular outfit choice for boudoir photoshoots. I definitely think it’s because we don’t tend to wear them on a day to day basis like a bra and panty, so they feel extra special! The Bloom Boudoir client closet is almost exclusively bodysuits because they are flattering for every body, and because 9 times out of 10, muses either have one to wear or need one! I have bodysuits in sizes XS-4X!

Oversized Button Up Shirt

Your spouse may have one of these in their closet ready to go, which makes this one of the easiest outfits to acquire. Plus, if you plan on sharing your images with them, they always love the personal detail. Bottoms optional ;)

Tank Top & Panty

This is a more modest option that still looks great and is comfortable! We all have one of these babies lying around, and they are available to buy virtually everywhere. The tank top look is great to pair with a cute, simple panty, or throw your favorite jacket or sweater over for a layered look!

Slip

Slips are soooo underrated for boudoir. Sleek, sexy, and sometimes can even be paired with a great bra and panty underneath! You even have options between a looser fit, or a tight, body hugging fit. Both are totally stunning in boudoir photos!

Dress

Your boudoir session is all about you. Do you have a favorite dress that just makes you feel like the sexiest thing to walk the earth? Consider including it in your outfit line up for your shoot! Even your wedding dress can be incorporated into your shoot in a beautiful way.

Birthday Suit/Sheet

My personal favorite option, is to wear nothing at all. Okay, nothing and a sheet to reveal and conceal. I love how much variety you can get with a simple sheet, or even playing with light to make some beautiful, artistic nude portraits.

Accessories

Now that you’ve got the main part of your outfit down, you may want to keep it simple as is. Great! However, if you want to add a little spice, you might want to look at some accessories to dress it up! Remember this is all about you babe, so feel free to include sentimental jewelry, your favorite shoes, etc! Some examples of boudoir accessories are:

  • Robes

  • Body Chains

  • Jewelry

  • Crowns

  • Shoes

  • Hair Accessories

I’m here to make sure your boudoir session makes you feel empowered, beautiful, and bold like goddess you are! You totally got this, and I’m here to help you every step of the way.
